Humminbird PiranhaMax 230 PT Portable 4-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder Review

Humminbird PiranhaMax 230 PT Portable 4-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this from amazon about a month ago and it works awesome. I use mine on a kayak so I need to use a portable model. The suction cup is awesome, don't worry about it falling off. I have to slide a knife under it to un-stick it from my boat.
The battery it comes with is like a small car battery, and initially turned me off to the product, this being the days of lithium-ion technology and all. I quickly warmed to it, however, as it recharges well and lasts forever. I went on a four hour fishing trip, left it uncharged, then took it out again for another four hours without coming close to losing power.
The dual beam was a big selling point for me when I bought it, but honestly it seldom spots any more fish (fish picked up by the second beam are displayed as white rather than black). I wouldn't let this feature keep you from buying a single beam product.
When I bought it, it sold for 111.00 from a company called Ritz Interactive, which no longer seems to be listed as a merchant. Take $30.00 off for applying for the amazon credit card, and I got it for 91.00. Plus got free shipping.
I don't really have any experience using other fish finders, but this product works great for me. If you're looking for a fishfinder with long battery life and accurate readouts for a low price, this is a great deal.

Garmin GTU 10 GPS Tracking Unit Review

Garmin GTU 10 GPS Tracking Unit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
-----UPDATE---------
After using this thing for a little while I have some useful feedback. It is more sensitive than most to being in doors. All mobile phones and 5 year gps units can get some fix inside my house, but the GTU10 wont attempt a fix with less than 5 satts. If you use the heaviest battery setting you have to recharge once a day. Its that simple. if instead of checking every 5 seconds you check every 15 minutes you can recharge every five days-- big difference.
My biggest concern is the mobile apps, both android and IOs. the both seem to take a long time to connect with the device. A device I might have just turned on, placed on the hood of my car, waited for 5 minutes the apps where still giving my last nights position. eventually after pushing refresh enough times it works but I wish I knew what was happening and why it seems to take so long to lock if it hasn't locked in a while. After all, I have the deluxe tracking option so when I download the track history I know the GPS is functioning.
this device is a breakthrough in the realtime tracking market. at 200 including the first year of unlimited location requests it's one of the cheapest. add to this it's size ( about the size of a pack of gum), its outstanding battery life and the very polished iPhone and android apps and you've got a winner.
there are a couple of things that really set this device apart from the rest.
1. it works on AT&T's network. most of the cheaper models, like zoom bak use T-Mobile because it is cheaper.
now you might be thinking AT&T always drops calls. well it does, but this runs on the data, not voice, network and it doesn't need the maintain a connection with a tower for minutes or hours- just a few seconds to fire off a location report. also at&t has much better coverage than t-mobile.
2. this device let's you configure the frequency with which it computes it's location:
every 5 seconds , every 5 minutes, every 30 minutes, or only when you request it known as on demand. this level of customization is unique and allows you tailor the device to your needs. also you can have it sleep when inside a pre-defined area called a geofences. so if you, using the website or app draw a rectangle around your house you can have the device sleep while inside that area. it will still wake up and take a fix at what ever interval you set, say every 30 minutes, but in between it won't be available for instant checks.
3. the battery really can last four weeks, however it is totally dependent on how you use it. when configuring the device from the web page it will tell you what battery life to expect for each setting. updating every 30 seconds for example will last 20 hours. updating every 5 minutes will last three days. I have personally found these both to be underestimates. but based on this it is easy to imagine it lasting 4 weeks set on on-demand mode.
Some Cons
it doesn't work indoors unless it is near a window or at least within site of a window. the thing is small with an internal antennae. this is a tradeoff. other gps's including those in my smartphone can compute a location in a parking garage, but they only last 1.5 days before needing a charge.
I thought I could keep it in every,5 minutes or every 30 minutes for casual monitoring but if something or someone went missing I could just switch it to 30 second mode. sort of have the best of both worlds. unfortunately this doesn't work. after saving any new settings you get a message saying it can take up 24 hours for the device to be updated automatically, Or you can turn the device off and then on and the changes will be immediately applied. I assume the system does a once a day refresh but it syncs itself every time it powers up.

Garmin Fishfinder 160C Review

Garmin Fishfinder 160C
Average Reviews:

I have used the [ASIN:B000ETTPCG Garmin 160C Portable Fishfinder (Dual Beam)]Garmin 160C several times now and find that it is quite easy to use and it works well not only locating fish but the constant depth reading has saved my boat being hung up in shallow water areas where I fish. The optional audible alarm that I added was a plus as well so you can hear the warning of fish and depth audibly as well as see on the screen both fish and water depth situations.
Great item for the low cost!!

Panasonic KX-TG4134N DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with 4-Handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG4134N DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with 4-Handsets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this phone to replace an AT&T set that was beginning to give me some problems. I was tired of basic black phone color but the black Panasonic phones appealed to me because they had been given such great reviews.

Another gold colored Panasonic was given a so-so review because the painted buttons had lost their markings. I saw a Panasonic phone almost identical to this one at Sears and I liked the look and feel enough compared to other brands that I searched and found this one on Amazon and decided to give it a try.
The phone is really what I wanted. It has more than enough features to suit me. One feature that my old phone didn't have is "intercom". You can name each phone like "living room" or "bedroom" and if you are outside or in another room, you can call one of the other phones which you have named and talk to someone in your home or they can contact you. That may actually come in handy. The intercom "ring" is different from the regular phone ring so you know it's an inside call.
You can cut off the tones that the phone makes when you push buttons making it a pleasant phone to use. The buttons have a nice feel when you engage them. The push buttons light up as does the display window which is great for low light conditions and older far sighted eyes. The phone is light weight and a good fit in your hand. It really feels good and yet it feels weighty enough to feel like a quality product. The light gold color is a very nice alternative to boring black and it looks rich. The "off" button is printed in red and the "talk" button is printed in green with a green phone symbol added. Underneath the button for speakerphone is an orange label that says "sp-phone" and these colors all look nice on the gold tinted face of the phone.
The display window is easy to read and has a three section task bar at the bottom which corresponds to the three unmarked buttons just below the window. The three section task bar changes with the functions you are using. This is easy to learn to use so don't let that scare you.
To use your stored phone book list of numbers, you push the unmarked button on the left which corresponds to an open "book" symbol on the window task bar. Then you scroll down using the arrow keys on the big central button. Or you can push a button like 8 which represents T or U or V, for a name like Terry and the list will jump to the names starting with "T".
The buttons you use the most with your thumb are located in just the right places and so this phone was layed out really well. The speaaker phone is plenty loud and adjustable. I talk with my elderly mom for over an hour sometimes and the battery seems to hold up just fine. I walk to my mail box 300 feet away in a wooded area and the phone doesn't lose any sound and there is no popping or cracking.
The answering maching has it's own recorded message and it was good enough that I wasn't compelled to create my own which it will allow. I love being able to check and listen to my messages from ANY of the 4 phones. No need to head to the room where the actual message machine is. The phone takes up very little space on your table and a little amber light on top of each phone lets you know it's seated properly in it's cradle and is charging.
I don't use caller ID but I may give it a try since this thing actually talks to you and announces who's calling. My advice is that if you're tired of cheap feeling ugly phones don't hesitate to try this one. It has more features than I've listed here. I'm glad I bought it, and I'm glad I bought it from Amazon because they stand behind their sales. That's refreshing in todays business world too. I buy most of my products from Amazon because of that and I haven't had to return but a few and they made that a breeze when I did.

I bought these phones for my 80yr.old Mother for two main reasons. 1)The clock display is perfect for anyone with poor eyesight...the display is so nice and big! 2)The most important feature that this phone has is the "talking caller ID"...what a wonderful option for anyone to have and it works beautifully! My Mom is so happy with her new phones, so this certain Panasonic phone is a must...it far exceeds other brands! There are so many great features on this phone, the quality is amazing and the price is so reasonable! The "speaker in handset" feature works and sounds very clear also. Over the years I have purchased at least five different Panasonic phones and this particular model is the BEST yet! I HIGHLY recommend this Panasonic phone to you!

Garmin Waterproof Fishfinder 300C with 3.5-Inch Display and Dual-Beam Transducer Review

Garmin Waterproof Fishfinder 300C with 3.5-Inch Display and Dual-Beam Transducer
Average Reviews:

The 300C has a small screen compared to many others but it is bright and has high resolution and thousands of colors. The menus are quick and to the point and it has most of the features you will find in higher priced fishfinders. You do need to set it up properly for best results.. i.e. turn up gain, turn on whiteline, and turn OFF fish ID etc. Comes with a fixed mount bracket. I would have preferred the swivel bracket that comes with the FF140, but oh well. Seems to work well and no problems viewing screen even in bright sunlight. Its smaller size makes it an ideal color sounder for small boats with not a lot of room for electronics.

Garmin Fishfinder 90 with Dual-Beam Transducer Review

Garmin Fishfinder 90 with Dual-Beam Transducer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchased this fishfinder on Amazon with $30 off when opened Amazon credit card. Installation was pretty easy, everything I needed was in a box. Took the boat out the next day on Wye River in MD, worked pretty well for me: showed water temperature at 80 degrees, finally warm! the depth gauge was pretty accurate too. I measured the depth with a pole and compared with Garmin and the accuracy was within 0.5 inches! I bought this unit because I had a budget under $100, but was looking for one that warns when the water is shallow and it also has a dual beam (you can set a narrow beam for more depth and accuracy or wider beam for greater coverage). The screen is big and clear, even in the sun thanks to a special anti-reflective coating, pretty easy to navigate through the menu, no need to load anything as this is NOT a marine GPS unit. Fish finding feature was neat (was assuring to see big and little fish on the screen). I think the manual stated the images on the screen had up to 5 seconds delay. Still not bad if you do not go too fast. I was crabbing that day, so cannot really tell if it helps you catch fish, but the images were definately clear on the screen. I did not get a portable hardware, but unless you switch between boats you do not really need it. I simply take the unit off the holder when park the boat, so it does not get wet/hot/stollen. The holder has a swiwel feature, so you can adjust it to whatever angle you like and then secure in that position. It also beeps when there is a school of fish nearby. I saw circles in the water and fish jumping, then Garmin started beeping, so it definately knows where the fish is. In overall, I think if you need a basic unit that warns you of water depth (you can set it to beep when it is less than X feet), shows where the fish is (including the depth where the fish is), and water temperature you will be happy with Garmin 90. It might not have a touch screen or complex menu options, but it definately does the trick for a lot less $. But if you also need a GPS feature, look into more expensive ones.

Ideal for use on any vessel where space is at a premium, the Garmin Fishfinder 90 marine GPS is a compact, user-friendly entry level sonar that makes finding fish simpler than ever. This system features a patented transom/trolling mount, dual-beam transducer with user-selectable 14 degree or 45 degree views to give you better shallow water performance, and a wide viewing angle of 60 degrees to let you see fish--even off the sides of the boat. Designed to give you fast and clear information when you need it, the Fishfinder 90's black on white, 64 x 128 pixel display offers one of the sharpest screens for the money and the Ultrascroll option lets you enjoy a much faster refresh rate on the sonar display. This system also delivers automatic display re-scaling on range change, so you won't have to worry about vertical lines obscuring your readings. For added convenience, the power-down backup feature ensures that your settings will not be lost when the unit is turned off.The Fishfinder 90 offers additional features, including a 2X and 4X automatic and manual zoom, 600 foot depth, and technology that shows weak and strong returns simultaneously, that make it easy and fun to find the perfect catch. And thanks to alarms for fish size, shallow water, deep water, and low battery (so your Fishfinder will never suddenly run out of power without warning), you'll have an informed advantage that will pay off in better fish stories than ever before. Levana CT1000 Digital Wireless Child Tracker Wrist Watch and Kid Finder/Locator Review

Levana CT1000 Digital Wireless Child Tracker Wrist Watch and Kid Finder/Locator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, I'm a bit of a gadget geek and work in the IT industry, so I think I'm a pretty good judge of quality when it comes to electronics.
We recently moved into what most would call a great neighborhood. One downside to our new house is that it doesn't have a fenced back yard for our kids to play in. One day our 2 1/2 yr. old son managed to get out of the house and wandered down to the street corner one house down - he likes to go for walks. Jinny thought he was out helping me in the garage. I thought he was inside. Some 'nice' neighbors brought him back (thanks!) then proceeded to call the cops and report us for child neglect (Thanks for nothing!!!) Whatever happened to watching out for neighbors???? They obviously don't have small kids. The police were very understanding and assured us they were only following up on the call and not going to arrest us. Kudos to the police for doing a great job.
So, now my wife is terrified to let the kids out of her sight. We bought this device as a backup, not the primary way to keep track of the kids, until we can get a fence installed.
After convincing him it was a nice watch to wear, we proceeded to test it.
Inside the house it picked up the signal and indicated direction like it's advertised. When we went outside, as soon as our son walked more than 15 feet away, the receiver couldn't pick up the signal, and that was with clear unobstructed site. The device claims you can set an out of range warning signal for up to 98 ft. It doesn't even work for the shortest range setting.
If you decide to take your chances, there are also a couple of other minor issues to consider. The wrist band is too easy for kids to take off. Our son had it off in less than a minute the first time we put it on him. Second, this is more an annoyance, there's no way to disable the 'panic button' on the watch.
Don't waste your money! It's a great idea, but the device doesn't work! Hope this saves someone else some time and money.
Regards - Ken

Cobra SL3 GPS Speed and Red Light Camera Locator Review

Cobra SL3 GPS Speed and Red Light Camera Locator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The device itself is okay. You have to memorize what type of threat each sound represents because the visual display only indicates proximity, not threat type. The sounds themselves are a little quirky - reminds me of R2D2. It can be hard to differentiate the different sounds at first.
The real problem is that Cobra's database is not very good. Even after updating the database, the unit sees maybe one out of five red light camera intersections that I come across. I live in metro Washington, DC and northern Virginia and parts of Maryland. I will be buying an Escort soon and probably throw this away. It may be cheap ($50) but it's not worth the dashboard space it takes up.

Little Buddy Child GPS Tracker - (Green) Review

Little Buddy Child GPS Tracker - (Green)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Little Buddy Child GPS Tracker - (Green)We are using this on a disabled adult who likes to walk. For the most part, he is able to go miles each day without difficulty, but there are times he is unable to get back. We have tried for 9 months to get him to use a cell phone. That has not been successful.
WHEN this works it is great...but it has gaps. I have setup safe zones with times, it is supposed to let me know if he is in that area at the time set. Most of the time it sends a text message saying "don't know where he is".
If you reset/reboot this every day it seems to be able to keep pretty good track. We recharge the battery every nite and it has not been a problem. There have been times when he has been out and about and it did not work because it needed to be rebooted again. It is useless at that time.
There are times when it has told us he was miles away and I could see him across the room
But, most of the time it works and it tells us where he is within 20 or 30 yards.
if he is traveling by car, the faster the speed the less precise. At 50mph it will tell you within 1.5 miles
would I buy this again?
Yes for us it has been very goodnot perfect
and if you need tech support
call Insignia office
Its only open during business hours but the other tech support listed was no help at all
ALL the other tech support and phone numbers found had no clue or no power or whatever.
When we first got this I called everybody I could find. The office, the next day told me the system was under repair those hours
so call the sales office first!!

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger unit Review

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger unit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(NOTE MY UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW BEFORE BUYING)
I bought a Spot GPS Messenger 2 in May 2010, mainly to use when I travel in my airplane (if you go to my Flickr account, "SouthwestUSA" or Google "Flickr, SouthwestUSA Spot GPS Messenger" you'll see my Spot resting on top of the panel in my airplane over New Mexico where it always managed to send a message) or RV. This product has received more than it's fair-share of less than favorable reviews, and I too had earlier given this product a 1 star review here on Amazon, about 7 days after I received it. I was so frustrated and mad at one point, I was close to cutting the Spot in half on a band-saw and posting a video of the severing on YouTube. I wasn't a "happy camper" the first week I owned this little jewel.
Here is the "meat" of some issues that need to be considered before you order this product.
#1. (Like most people advise) It is not a substitute for a full-fledged ELB.
A "full-fledged Emergency Locator Beacon does not require an annual contract, the Spot Messenger does. So, A ELB might be a cheaper alternative to the Spot if you need such a device for 5 years or longer.
#2. The website, where you must activate the Spot and purchase a service plan is complicated and convoluted. It is difficult to navigate and understand. It took me more than a week to finally get their BIZARRE website figured out in order to get my Spot GPS Messenger 2 set up and working as I need it. The manual that came with my Spot 2 is TERRIBLE. I should cut the manual in half, and post a video of that on YouTube. These folks need to produce a better manual. IT'S TERRIBLE!
#3. If you buy this little jewel, you'll have a boatload of questions once you open the package. Rest assured, if you go to the "Follow Me Spot" website and look at the "FAQs" be advised that 90% of your questions will NOT be addressed on the website's FAQs.
#4. If you call their customer support people, be prepared to wait for up to 20 or 30 minutes for a real human-being who you can actually talk to. I only have a cell phone and it was annoying wasting my "minutes" while on-hold.
#5. Don't even think of sending a question to these people VIA e-mail... You MIGHT be lucky if you get an answer in 7 to 10 days by e-mail.
#6. The tiny buttons on the Spot provide NO TACTILE FEEDBACK (click) and it's somewhat difficult to determine if your button ("I'm OK" or "Send Help") was actually activated and worked... The button you push for the specific message eventually lights-up and blinks when they have been "activated and sent" however when viewing these very tiny buttons in sunlight, they hard to see and determine if the message was indeed "SENT." If you are 6 years old, your little finger can get to the small buttons. If you are a Baby-Boomer like me, your fat, old fingers might have trouble pressing these little buttons in order to send a message. I have to use the fingernail on my "pinky" or a ballpoint pen in order to press the button to make it engage the electronic contacts. I suspect if I fell down a cliff or were injured in some way, I might not be able to get the tiny buttons to work because they are so small and awkward to access with my fat and stubby fingers.
Once I FINALLY got my account established and my emergency contacts set up, I'm having more confidence in my Spot as a device that can contact my wife when I am in a remote area not having cell service. My iPhone has a couple of WONDERFUL apps where I can press one button and ask for 9-1-1 assistance and another app that I can press, to send my wife (or anyone having an e-mail account) a message showing my GPS location on Google Maps... but the iPhone doesn't work everywhere, and I love going into remote areas to tour ghost towns and old mining camps where there is NO CELL SERVICE FOR MILES. (You'll see on my Flickr account my Spot GPS Messenger in a few Ghost Towns.)
The SPOT GPS MESSENGER can easily beam your pre-determined message to a satellite, when my iPhone can't work. And so far (after learning the pain-in-the @$$ website for SPOT, I now am confident I can go nearly anywhere and be able to get my pre-programed message to my contact list. PLEASE NOTE... You can not create "tailor-made" messages with the spot while out in the boonies. You have to get on-line with your computer, go into your "Follow Me Spot" account in advance and create a pre-determined message. You get a choice of 3 messages with the 3 different buttons on the Spot. Below are examples I programmed into my "Follow Me Spot" account. You will probably want something entirely different.
There are three options for sending messages... #1. (Which goes to my wife) is "I am safe, here is where I am." She is able to then click a link and it takes her to Google Maps and shows her my location. Each time, the accuracy of this seems to be around 150 feet, which is accurate enough for a SAR team.
#2. I need help and this is where I am. (I'll probably modify this message prior to going off on an adventure to tailor the message if I am traveling in my airplane or my RV.) #3. For my emergency message that would be sent to the nearest 9-1-1 responder, I set this up with text to advise the 9-1-1 responder "O-Positive Blood Type. This person is an aircraft pilot and might have had an unplanned, emergency/forced landing in remote area and could possibly be injured as a result of the forced landing. The emergency contacts for this person are ***** ****** ****** (this is where I list three names and cell phone numbers for my wife, sister in-law and brother in-law.)
Some of the criticism about the Spot is when the emergency 9-1-1 button is pressed, some 9-1-1 responders in "less sophisticated regions, a-k-a "Hootersville" have no idea what a latitude/longitude is or what a Spot or ELB emergency might be, thus the reason why I say I am a pilot, and might have had a forced-landing, and advising of my blood-type and general health issues. (You can make up your own message, maybe saying "This person is on a hiking trip and might have fallen. 58 year old male, blood type is ??? and allergic to ????. Next of kin is ???????."
LAST BUT NOT LEAST....
My Spot GPS Messenger 2 does things an ELB can not do, which is to allow my wife to have some peace-of-mind with my "I'm OK message." Additionally, if I do have a forced landing and I DO NOT have a life-threatening emergency, I have confidence I can just send out a simple "need help message" and the local responder will show up, having called my wife first who will advise the color and type of my airplane. I can tell him "Hey, the engine quit in my airplane, and I just need a lift out of here to contact a mechanic." If that is the case, I sure don't want the folks at 9-1-1 calling Army Blackhawk helicopters with Airborne Rangers swooping down from ropes. Although I did purchase the insurance to reimburse the responders, should they show up in a helicopter.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE SPOT...
The Spot fits nicely on my arm with the enclosed arm-band that came with the unit. It also fits in my shirt pocket and isn't too heavy. I can Velcro it to the glare-shield (dash) of my airplane where it has a clear shot at a satellite.
It has worked well in sending out my test messages when sitting on the dash of my pick-up and while strapped on my arm. The ability of the unit to send out a "bread-crumb" trail of where I have been isn't a big deal to me, and although I've tried this feature a couple of times, be advised it sends out a message to your contacts about every 10 minutes and it DOES NOT exactly provide a trace of the trail (or route) you have been on. But, it still can be useful for tracking in an emergency. When I tried this "bread crumb trail" feature while driving my pick up on country roads, the device, when sending a "blip" every 10 minutes will show up on a Google Map and will not trace the road you are on, and it will "hodge-podge" across a map making what looks like leaps over hills, rivers and across valleys, instead of tracing an actual road or trail you are on. Not a big deal, but for those of us who are used to high-end GPS units that actually trace every foot of your path on long distant trips (my Garmin 496 does this in my airplane) it can be a bit distracting.
There are several features that I'll never use and I can't comment on them, but as a "pseudo" ELB, I think I will be very satisfied. And, as a way for me to communicate with my wife (since I often travel alone) it will give her peace of mind as I check in when in locations where my cell phone can't work.
I plan on making a video showing how this unit works in my airplane, my RV and my pick-up to put on my YouTube account. The videos I've seen on YouTube about the SPOT don't cut to the meat of the subject and the heart of the capabilities of this nice little unit. I'll also show on my YouTube video, what a pain in the @$$ the "Follow Me Spot" website is... Stay tuned, my moniker on YouTube is "tuutuutango" where you can see a video of an airplane I built in my backyard and flew for the first time.
BOTTOM LINE...
After spending just over $300 for the Spot and all of the features they offer to include RESPONDER REIMBURSEMENT INSURANCE (I bought everything) I feel good about my decision to go with this unit over a full-fledged ELB, because the Spot can do more than an ELB can do... It is lightweight and small but the company website and their manual are almost a joke and a royal pain in the neck.
Remember Steve Fossett, the millionaire pilot who was lost in the Nevada wilderness? Search and rescue teams spent nearly two months looking for this guy ([...]) and they never found him. Maybe, if he had a SPOT GPS MESSENGER (and a survival kit) like I do, he would have...Read more›

Cobra XRS 9970G Voice Alert 15 Band Radar and Laser Detector Review

Cobra XRS 9970G Voice Alert 15 Band Radar and Laser Detector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this radar unit for my Hummer H2. I am very familiar with radar being a commercial pilot. I've owned radar detecting equipment off and on for 32 years. This is the most sophisticated highly sensitive unit I've owned and its easy to set up and operate. Its mounted on my dash since I cant reach the windshield from the drivers seat. The radar detector performs great. It has many features to reduce false alerts. I like the intellimute feature. It senses your RPMS and mutes the sound up to a preset RPM that you have entered, plus speed alerts you can preset. Mine is set at 75. It will chime and says "speed alert" if speed is exceeded, very handy and shows your speed when alerting. It has picked up state troopers in town blocks away, plenty of time to adjust your speed. The screen is visable in bright daylight, but I use the blackout feature which it goes dark after a preset time you enter but it will light back up upon a radar/gps signal. The icons can be set to different colors (green blue red orange or multi) to match your dash light colors. You can tell if its a false hit because it will only read out KA band, but a police radar hit will show the frequency he is using. The touch screen is priceless. Just a touch of an icon will change a feature and is very easy to change settings on the go, and the red-light/speed camera/speed trap detection is indispensible. As I was driving the interstate on a camp trip the Cobra 9970G alerted (caution speed trap area). Right after it alerted I looked over at the oncoming lanes and a state trooper had someone pulled over with lights flashing. This thing really works. The AURA Database is constantly updated every 12 hours and is free with the purchase of the 9970G. You can also manually set different alert locations up to 1000 of them. I usually set it up for school zones. It will alert you well ahead of them.

Garmin Fishfinder 140 with 4.7-Inch Display and Dual-Beam Transducer
Average Reviews:

I didn't expect much for the price I paid, but was pleasently surprised. The screen is very easy to read, and the automatic features actually work without being fine tuned. Far and away the nicest feature about this unit is the dual beam transducer. It has great accuracy not only under the boat, but off to the sides. Lastly the option of mounting the transducer to the trolling motor without having to buy an adapter was icing on the cake.

Pointer-Plus Locator/Stimulator Review

Pointer-Plus Locator/Stimulator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used it in conjunction with acupuncture treatments by an acupuncturist. The device correctly identified the acupuncture points that the acupuncturist was using to to treat my chronic headaches. In between treatments, it lowered my pain level.
I also used it to identify other meridians that deal with headaches with these two books: "Acupuncture Potent Points" by Michael Reed Gach and "The Encyclopedia of Healing Points" by Roger Dalet, MD. Both are sold by Amazon. Remember, that there are various theories about which points treat various illnesses. I had one acupuncturist tell that and in trying other acupuncturists, I have found that to be true. So that is why I bought two books.
I mostly used acupressure, instead of using the stimulator function of the device.
One note for any person contemplating buying such a device, once the device has located an acupuncture point, feel around the immediate area for the area that hurts the most. It should be within an inch or so. That is what the acupuncturist did to identify the most potent area to treat.
Now for the bad news, the device is little twitchy and at times lights up even if there is no nearby acupuncture point. Unfortunately, a month after I bought the device, I dropped it and it no longer works.
Overall, I would recommend buying the device. As to the stimulator function, I really do not know if it helped, since I preferr to use acupressure.
This same device can be bought for at a lower price at other websites. Too bad, I like dealing with Amazon.
