(More customer reviews)I have these along with the True Touch remotes all around the house in 3 and 4-way configurations. One tap and the light turns on to the level it was last at. Another touch increases/decreases the light level. Lightbulbs seem to last forever when controlled by these as the lights are brought up and down from the level gradually. They work great and I like their very low profile - very sleek looking. Small green LED at the bottom illuminates when the switch is off so you can easily locate it in the dark. Need to be careful about putting these alongside other master switches (as opposed to the remotes) in multi-gang boxes, the rated wattage decreases as you break off the fins to get them side by side in the box. You can access the installation instructions on the Leviton website which will tell you what you need to know. Very pleased with these dimmers.

(More customer reviews)I have no problems with the performance of the phones. Sound quality and distance are fine.
What I did not realize until too late was:
1. You cannot use both phones at once. This is really surprising and annoying when two people want to be on a conversation.
2. There is no "mute" feature, neither when on handset nor on speakerphone. This is a significant problem when on a long conference call where you are mostly listening in.
It looks so much like my other Uniden cordless set (a two-line model) that I assumed it also had these same, basic features.
Update 1 month later: Both handsets now die at random during phone calls. I've just thrown the phones out. They are clearly inferior to other Uniden phones I've had. I've replaced this model with Uniden TRU9485.
I'd change the rating to one star, but apparently one cannot edit the star # in an existing review.

New Professional Mini Tracker Key Review

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these to keep track of teenager and his new car. I also use it to archive my travels as I am self-employeed and may have a need to prove to the IRS or a client my mileage.
Pros:
1. Profile - very small for what it does and the black color is perfect for concealment.
2. Ease of Use - Simply find something magnetic to stick it to and you're done. Later, retrieve the unit, plug it into your computer, download and view.
3. Accurate - This thing doesn't skip a beat. I've had virtually no blank spots on the tracking. It also records fastest speed and how long you are idle.
4. Cost - good price for the capabilities.
Cons:
1. Software - The software that came with mine would not install. This is not an isolated issue I later found out. I had to download the software from the Internet. Annoying, but I got it to work.
2. Quality - Within 2 months I had lost the cap protecting the USB connection (got lose and fell off). Also, two of the parts that hold the screws in are coming out and need to be glued. The o-ring is also very flimsy and will soon break I am sure.
Overall I like the product and would consider another.
These are great to keep tabs on teenage drivers. You know if they are really going to school, work, friends, etc., how fast they drive and how long they were parked.
Cheep piece of mind.
These would also be great to put on company vehicles to track employees or a suspected cheating spouse!

GE 27956FE1 Dect 6.0 Photo Phone with Photo CID Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the GE PhotoPhone Model number 27956FE1 as a Christmas gift for my mother in December of 2008. The phone worked fine for a couple of months then during a visit with my mother I noticed that the phone display presented just a white screen. I called the number in the Users Guide. I was told to unplug the phone from the power outlet, unplug the phone from the phone line, remove the battery from the handset, and leave the phone unplugged for 10 minutes. I followed the instructions and that appeared to resolve the problem.
But then in April I found the same thing had happened to the phone. I tried the same procedure and this time it didn't work. I packed the phone up, got on the Internet and downloaded a pdf copy of the phone guide and returned the phone to the address in the guide paying the shipping charge of $11.52. After about 3 weeks we receive a notice there is a package that has been returned from Thompson. We go to the post office and find that the package had been returned because the address was incorrect. In fact we are told that the address was changed over a year ago. We are charged $10.66 for the returned package.
I then call the customer service number and complain about the fact that the address the documentation tells me to send the phone to is not in fact the correct address. I was interested in either getting my postage back or having them send me a replacement phone without my having to resend the old phone.
I talked to a help desk person who basically told me that she didn't believe me when I said that I had gotten the wrong address from documentation I had downloaded from the Internet. She told me that the Warranty did not include shipping and that basically I would have to incur additional shipping cost to have the phone serviced. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor tells me that the Users Guide says that I need to call their 800 number to obtain Warranty service and if I had done that they would have told me the new address where I should send the phone. I point out that I already called the 800 number and at any rate in the second paragraph it says, "For instructions on how to obtain a replacement unit, refer to the warranty included in this guide or call customer service". Then I refer him to the warranty which is where it tells you to send the unit to the wrong address. All he kept saying was that the Warranty did not include shipping and that I should have called the 800 number. I asked him if I could speak with his supervisor and he said there was none and referred me to an address where I could send a written complaint. So I send a letter to the address provide and they send me a generic response that makes it clear they never read the letter. Bottom line, if you want to buy a product that doesn't work from a company that isn't interest in providing any service for it by all means purchase one of these phones. As for me, I think I'll keep my distance from anything with the Thompson or GE logo on it. Good luck.

I even got anxious enough to email Humminbird to find out when it would be released, and i was pretty upset when they told me they had no plans to produce an ice fishing transducer. Needless to say, when i saw it available on Amazon, I bought one immediately. I've used it a few times, and it works great! Much better alignment than i got with my old puck style transducer on a pvc bracket. Just drop it down the hole and you're good to go. Might need a slight adjustment occasionally to get it to hang perfectly vertical.

SleuthGear iTrail GPS Logger Passive Tracking Device Review

(More customer reviews)I had the GPS tracking key by Land-Air-Sea before this. I bought it from an on-line "spy gear" shop. For whatever reason, I never thought to check amazon for another one. Instead I went to the LAS site, and looked for a local retailer. I wanted to get it that day. So I went to a shop on the LAS site, and the guys there told me they quit making the GPS tracking key, and that this iTrail was the replacement. So I got it. Don't buy it, for many reasons:
1st- it's a non-replaceable built in rechargeable battery. For what a tracking device is used for, you need to be able to swap the batteries with fresh ones every week or so sometimes...not hook it up to your computer and let it charge for four hours like this iTrail.
2nd- proprietary cable. You have to have the cable that comes with it to plug it in. The GPS tracking key from LAS plugs into any USB port without additional cables.
3rd- discretion. If anyone finds the device, they will know exactly what it is. It says iTrail all over it and you can google it on the internet. The GPS tracking key has no markings. I scratched all the markings off and removed the stickers. Now of course I can't return it.
4th- it doesn't work very well. you can't tell if it's on or off half the time. i had it on a vehicle for 4 days, and it missed a ton of the important information i was trying to get. i don't know if the motion sensor is weak, or if it has a hard time locking on to GPS satellites or what, but it totally missed what I needed. The LAS GPS tracking key misses things once in a while, too, but not this bad.
5th- even when it does record data, the output to Google earth isn't very good. you do a lot of your own calculating. It tells what time a stop occurs, but doesn't say for how long. The next piece of information you have is how long the next route was, then the next stop time. you have to subtract the route length from the next stop time then subtract that from the last stop time to figure out how long the last stop time was. The GPS tracking key provides all that without additional calculations by you.
Not happy. I'm throwing it in the garbage after I write this review. Lesson learned. Get the GPS tracking key. The guy at the local shop lied. You can still get it right here on amazon.com. And it's cheaper than I paid for my original one (I paid $200, amazon's is $131):

Escort Entourage CIS Kit-0016 GPS Vehicle Tracker (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This product is very easy to install with only two wires. One for power(must find a constant 12v) and one for ground. After that you just choose a location to hide the device and press the on button. Then you log onto the website and choose a plan, either yearly or monthly. I choose yearly $179/yr because they waive the activation fee.
The product itself has many great features such as text and email alerts, vehicle locating, and vehicle tracking. The actual gps locations are usually very accurate but they are sometimes off. For example: I press locate when i know my vehicle is parked in front of my house but when it gives me my location it says my vehicle is next door at the neighbors house. I would give this product 5 out of 5 if it didn't have such an UNRELIABLE NETWORK. I set my device to text me if the motion sensor senses vibration, if my vehicle is stolen, or if it logs out of the network. I have received a text multiple times in the past month saying my device has logged off the network which basically means the device is off. There is no way of locating or tracking it until the network is back up. Sometimes its offline for 5-10 minutes, sometimes i've noticed it down for hours. I have since emailed customer service and this is what they are saying:
"We are currently having intermittent issues with devices being able to communicate over our wireless partners wireless network. We are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible."
This would be a good explanation if it happened maybe once or twice since owning the device, but it has happened at least 8 or 9 times and i have the texts alerts to prove it. This is very unreliable because at any of these times your vehicle could be stolen and you would have no way to track it until they fix whatever issues they are having for the day.
I also bought this product because at CES 2010 they announced an iphone app coming in January, currently there is only an app for blackberrys. It is now February and no iphone app available which is very disappointing.
For this review i gave only 2 stars mainly for the ease of installation and great features. I wouldn't give it more than 2 stars because I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this product to friends or family members knowing that there are ongoing issues with the network. At this point it is just too unreliable to recommend but I will keep this review updated if anything changes.

ONe neat thing is that this dimmer is "programmable" in that you can set the time it takes to fade in or out, the lowest level it will dim to, the highest level it will dim to, and a preset for when you turn it on. Other than that, it's a dimmer.

Installation was pretty easy. I had to read and follow the instructions but I had no problems. I will say I found it very hard to drill holes in a perfectly good boat.
On the lake, the GPS was great. The fish finder was very good also. It put me on fish, just not the right ones.
The only complaint I have is the fish alarm won't go off unless I show the fish icon. Maybe I just haven't figured that out yet.
Overall, it is everything I wanted and I am very satisfied.

They are very simple to use and do not cause my incandescent bulbs to squeal like some dimmers do. This is great in our nursery so we can keep the lights dim in the evening. I will continue to buy more of these as I add these to other rooms in my house. They take up a fair amount of space in the wall box, but it shouldn't be an issue if you route your wires appropriately.

(More customer reviews)Bought this from amazon about a month ago and it works awesome. I use mine on a kayak so I need to use a portable model. The suction cup is awesome, don't worry about it falling off. I have to slide a knife under it to un-stick it from my boat.
The battery it comes with is like a small car battery, and initially turned me off to the product, this being the days of lithium-ion technology and all. I quickly warmed to it, however, as it recharges well and lasts forever. I went on a four hour fishing trip, left it uncharged, then took it out again for another four hours without coming close to losing power.
The dual beam was a big selling point for me when I bought it, but honestly it seldom spots any more fish (fish picked up by the second beam are displayed as white rather than black). I wouldn't let this feature keep you from buying a single beam product.
When I bought it, it sold for 111.00 from a company called Ritz Interactive, which no longer seems to be listed as a merchant. Take $30.00 off for applying for the amazon credit card, and I got it for 91.00. Plus got free shipping.
I don't really have any experience using other fish finders, but this product works great for me. If you're looking for a fishfinder with long battery life and accurate readouts for a low price, this is a great deal.

Global Pet Finder GPS Pet Tracker Review

(More customer reviews)This product is poorly made and has multiple manufacturing problems, which could have been avoided: The idea is to use a GPS transmitter to locate your lost dog. Here is why I returned mine:
1. GPS transmitter is NOT waterproof. The grey plastic case has a 2 inch long gap that would easily allow water to get inside it and destroy the electronics. Even overnight condensation could damage the unit.
2. GPS transmitter easily falls out of the cheap black plastic case that attaches to your dogs' collar. You could find the transmitter (assuming no exposure to moisture), but not your beloved dog, who could be long gone.
3. Antenna was shipped quite loose.

The Global Pet Finder consists of a GPS tracking device and a cellular transmitter. When the five-ounce, water resistant device is attached to the protective snap-guard, it slips easily onto your pet's collar, halter or harness. The other key component of the system is the globalpetfinder.com Web site. Here, Global Pet Finder members can build a virtual fence of any size by logging in and defining the fence parameters. The command center will prompt you to enter a name, address and size for your fence. Your fence is then automatically downloaded to the memory of your Global Pet Finder and your pet can then freely roam inside this virtual boundary. Up to five fence locations can be stored at once.
If your pet wanders outside the boundary you have defined, you'll be alerted immediately and sent a continuous update on the location of your pet. Location information is sent to the device of your choice -- a cell phone, a PDA, or a computer -- via SMS or email. Meanwhile, if the Global Pet Finder device is placed in "walk mode" you can walk and travel with your pet outside of the virtual fence. Should you and your pet become separated, though, tracking may be initialized remotely simply by dialing F-O-U-N-D from your cell phone. Likewise, you can check your pet's location at any time by dialing this code. The Global Pet Finder will then transmit your pet's position.
In addition to tracking your pet, the Global Pet Finder will alert you via cell phone when its batteries begin to run low. Plus, the unit monitors the environmental temperature for your pet. You'll will be alerted if temperature conditions become dangerously hot or cold. Global Pet Finder is non-invasive, it requires no installation or surgical implantation, and it does not use electric shock of any kind. Simply put, it's safe and causes no harm to your pet.
The Global Pet Finder requires a one-time activation fee of $34.99 and a monthly service plan. The service plan includes three locates per month (a locate is defined as an out-of-fence violation lasting more than five minutes. It begins when you receive an out-of-fence alert and ends when you pet returns to the "in-fence" mode). The service requires that you have cell phone coverage in your area. (More customer reviews)Bought this from amazon about a month ago and it works awesome. I use mine on a kayak so I need to use a portable model. The suction cup is awesome, don't worry about it falling off. I have to slide a knife under it to un-stick it from my boat.
The battery it comes with is like a small car battery, and initially turned me off to the product, this being the days of lithium-ion technology and all. I quickly warmed to it, however, as it recharges well and lasts forever. I went on a four hour fishing trip, left it uncharged, then took it out again for another four hours without coming close to losing power.
The dual beam was a big selling point for me when I bought it, but honestly it seldom spots any more fish (fish picked up by the second beam are displayed as white rather than black). I wouldn't let this feature keep you from buying a single beam product.
When I bought it, it sold for 111.00 from a company called Ritz Interactive, which no longer seems to be listed as a merchant. Take $30.00 off for applying for the amazon credit card, and I got it for 91.00. Plus got free shipping.
I don't really have any experience using other fish finders, but this product works great for me. If you're looking for a fishfinder with long battery life and accurate readouts for a low price, this is a great deal.

They are very simple to use and do not cause my incandescent bulbs to squeal like some dimmers do. This is great in our nursery so we can keep the lights dim in the evening. I will continue to buy more of these as I add these to other rooms in my house. They take up a fair amount of space in the wall box, but it shouldn't be an issue if you route your wires appropriately.
