(More customer reviews)The good: Overall this product worked. The GPS was really helpful in getting us from point A to point B and then back to point A. We used it for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend and it served it's purpose.
The bad: My biggest complaint with this product is that I feel like I was duped. I bought this unit over the Lowrance HDS-5 because I was under the impression that we could use it with Navionics Platinum+ and side by side these units were the same other than the Humminbird had better display resolution which put this unit over the other. That is NOT the case. The 788ci HD DI is NOT compatible with Navionics Platinum+ though the back of the box makes it seem that way. I sent humminbird an email and they all but called me an idiot and said that I needed to read the fine print. I am not impressed with humminbird customer service or their approach to conveying information to the consumer on what their product is actually capable of, or rather what it's not. I don't deny that the fault is mine for not reading the fine print, that's fine but I do wish I had bought the Lowrance. Humminbird will not be getting a repeat customer in my case.
I won't tell you not to buy this product but please read ALL of the fine print, you might be seeing pretty pictures that mean nothing when it comes to the actual product you're getting.
